3 Lotus Media has recently been working with Divine Performing Arts, an international dance group based in North America. 3 Lotus Media designed an event programme and promotional materials when Divine Performing Arts performed at London’s Royal Festival Hall earlier this year. After the success of this collaboration, 3 Lotus Media were asked to help create logos, posters and adverts for print and digital media, ready for Divine Performing Arts 2008/2009 Tour. The mission of Divine Performing Arts is to rediscover the essence of true, traditional culture and to bring arts to the world that celebrate human dignity and positive values. It thus produces and performs works that centre on classical themes and divinely-inspired cultural traditions. The group’s performances aim to provide an experience of consummate beauty and goodness.

Mimi

Tabitha from Mememine approached 3 Lotus media with a minimal budget to start an online store for children’s products such as clothing, furniture and toys with a strong focus on sustainable and ethical growing up. She wanted to spend her whole budget on getting a website and identified branding as her weakness. 3LM formulated a plan where the website was built using a template, therefore saving a large portion of her budget. This portion was then used for building a brand and promoting the store, giving Tabitha an entire store solution, with an online store, promotional exclusive products and a flexible brand.

The first step of formulating this brand was the creation of two illustrated characters: Mimi and Myne. Mimi is a young girl who is interested in music and nature; Myne is Mimi’s little brother and he likes superheroes and animals. These two characters provide an excellent promotional opportunity for the brand and make it a far more personable and emotionally tangible product. The name of the store was changed to MimiMyne to encompass the children’s names and a tagline was decided on: “Growing up green”.

After creating the illustrated characters, 3 Lotus Media set to work on a webshop that is now online at www.mimimyne.com and a blog for promotional use that is available at www.mimimyne.com/news.

3 Lotus Media produced a range of ethically produced organic cotton t-shirts in 3 colours with the girls’ t-shirt featuring Mimi and the boys’ t-shirt featuring Myne. These t-shirts will be given away to ethical and green magazines and blogs as competition prizes to promote the brand.

Now that the brand and store have been created, 3LM will help MimiMyne with PR work and search engine optimisation. They hope that the store will have every success in the future.

Floors made from recycled car tyres

When we decided to leave our old office we went to see a few different places all with their good and bad points. But as soon as we saw Rivington Street our hearts were set on it. The building houses many other companies and only opened up in May so we were one of the first here.

The main deciding factor for us choosing this office was the building’s green credentials – our business is ethical marketing and eco-friendly design so we’re chuffed to be able to reflect this in our surroundings.

Here’s a list of some of the eco-friendly features of the office and a few pics we took:

Solar panels on our roof heat water for the building

1.    Green Roof creates a bio-diverse environment, protecting the building (warmer in winter, cooler in summer) and reducing storm water run off. The decking is made from sustainable Cedar.
2.    Solar panels on the roof create power to heat all water for the building.
3.    Rainwater Harvesting provides water to irrigate the roof gardens and flush the loos in the building.
4.    A wind turbine powers the roof garden irrigation and the lighting on the roof.

Look, no light switch!

5.    Sensor lighting in most offices, WC’s  and kitchens (low energy bulbs), with daylight dimmers means that less energy is wasted.
6.    There is limited air conditioning to the building and none in our office.
7.    Double glazed windows keep heat in during winter and reflect sunlight during summer.
8.    The building uses energy efficient condensing boilers.
9.    Low flush WC’s (4 litre cisterns rather than standard 9 litre) and flow restrictors to all sinks means less water is used.
10. Flooring in common areas is made from recycled rubber tyres.
11. Counter tops in kitchens are made from old yoghurt pots.

12. Fair trade Tea and Coffee are provided along with eco-friendly kettles.
13. Furniture – chairs are made from 50% recycled materials and are 100% recyclable. Bins are made from 100% recycled plastics.
14. There is a secure bicycle shed, which 3 lotus Media makes daily use of!
15. The roof is home to a wormery for getting rid of waste. The worms eat our food waste and produce a very high in nutrient compost full of beneficial micro-organisms!
16. Recycling bins are on each floor (paper, plastics, cans).
17. And finally, the building itself has been recycled rather than being knocked down like others in the area.
